Best Nappy Disposal Systems – Top 20 Nappy Bins

Top 20 Nappy Bins

One of the certainties as a new parent you can definitely count on is having to deal with dirty nappies. And lots of them!  You will have gone through on average, a staggering 5000 nappies by the time a child is 2 years old.

Whether you use disposable nappies or non-disposable you are likely to want to do something with the dirty ones as quickly as possible. Ideally without always having to traipse back and forth to an outside bin. A nappy bin, nappy disposal unit or nappy bucket are practical solutions to the problem of dirty nappies piling up and causing a stink.

Nappy Disposal System

There are two main types of disposal systems and they differ slightly in how they store the soiled nappies.

The first type Involves placing the used nappy in the disposal unit to be individually sealed into a plastic parcel. Depending on the type of unit you either end up with a bin full of little individually wrapped parcels or a continuous string of sealed nappies for you to throw away.

The second type stores the nappies hygienically but this time collectively in a plastic sack. Rather than individually wrapping each nappy a sack is created when you tie off the continuous plastic sleeve in the unit forming the bottom of a bag and when the bin is full you simply tie off the top and throw it away.

Nappy Bin

Whilst not sounding quite as sexy as a nappy disposal unit the nappy bin still does the job of storing your baby’s dirty nappies. Unlike a normal bin a nappy bin usually has a sealable lid mechanism in order to reduce odours. Unlike a nappy disposal unit the nappy bin will usually work with a normal appropriately sized bin liner making them far more cost effective than a disposal units cartridges.

Nappy Bucket or Diaper Pail

There are numerous designs and versions available but essentially all will have the same key traits. The nappy bucket or diaper pail can be used for disposable nappies or soaking soiled non-disposable nappies pre-wash. The bucket or pail will likely have a close fitting or sealable lid in order to reduce odours and will usually have a carry handle to make life a little easier depending on size.
