Product Name: Stokke Steps Bouncer
Price Range: £££££
The Stokke Steps bouncer is a great little bouncer in its own right, but is also part of the Stokke Steps high chair seating system.
Swedish company Stokke have thought long and hard about a baby entering a family and the practical problems that causes. The Steps system answers some of those new issues. Something as simple as putting your baby bouncer onto a high chair frame, so you can eat with baby at the dinner table, is simple but ingenious.
The Steps system comes in 3 parts. The bouncer, the high chair frame, and the high chair seat, all sold separately. The bouncer comes in four colours red, blue, orange, or greige.
First and foremost this multi-purpose bouncer is part of the Stokke® Steps™ high chair seating system, so it’s not just a bouncer. By clipping the bouncer to the high chair your little one can join you at the dinner table or just be at a more accessible level.
The bouncer itself is actually quite versatile. As well four recline settings it can also fold flat for travel or storage. Folding down to (length x height x width) in cm/in: 80 x 13 x 53 /31,5 x 5 x 21
The Stokke Steps also has a toy hanger not a toy bar. This means as well as entertaining your baby you can still easily access them without a toy bar getting in the way. Unfortunately it doesn’t come with a toy, you just hang your baby’s favourite toy from the hanger.
The bouncer seat is very well padded and for additional comfort the seat can be reclined to four different angles depending on the weight of your baby. The Stokke Steps bouncer also comes with a newborn insert for extra support for smaller babies. A nice touch are the padded shoulder straps for that bit of extra comfort.
The bouncer actually has a five point safety harness with padded shoulder straps. The sturdy base prevents movement when bouncing.
Ease of Cleaning
The detachable seat cover is fully machine washable at 40 degrees. The plastic frame is wipe clean with a non abrasive detergent.
Ease of Assembly
The bouncer comes ready to go with the exception of attaching the toy hanger which just clips into place. When you attach the bouncer to the steps high chair frame again it clicks into place and can be easily detached again as needed.
Age Range and Usage
You can use the Stokke Steps bouncer from birth up to the age of 6 months which is roughly up to a maximum weight of 9 kg or 20 lbs. Assuming you buy for a newborn baby getting 6 months usage out of this bouncer is pretty much marked at the average usage in months compared to other bouncers on the market. See Baby Bouncer Comparison Table. The steps system can then be used up to an age of 3 years and above.
Looking at value for money, a great place to start is to consider the price against length of usage of the bouncer.
At the time of writing this bouncer is £129 putting it at the top of the price range (£££££ on the comparison table) which is anything £120+. You could get up to 6 months usage out of the product and so, a cost of £129 for 6 months gives you a usage cost per month of about £21.50 which is a high usage cost compared to other bouncers.
If you buy the full package of the Stokke Steps high-chair system then expect to pay around £450 in total. This cost is including the bouncer.
